Prof. Andrzej Adamski
Chairperson

Doctor of Laws, Professor in Criminal Law and Computer Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

He served as a legal expert in the United Nations project: Computerization of Information Systems in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Council of Europe Committee of Experts on Crime in Cyberspace (2000-2001). A laureate of the Professor Tomasz Hofmokl Award “For Promoting the Idea of Information Society” (2002) in the field of legal regulation and pioneering research on cyber crime
in Poland.

His main areas of research are: criminal law, criminology, computer and Internet law, as well as, legal protection of privacy and personal data. He was involved in the activities of LEFIS (Legal Framework for the Information Society) Thematic Network and the ICT Law Virtual Campus Project (2004-2010). A head of the postgraduate Studies of Computer Crime Problems for prosecutors at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (2007-2009). At present he is involved in the COST Action IS0807 „Living in Surveillance Society”, Working Group 4 Public Policy and the Regulation of Surveillance.

Author of many published works concerning legal and criminological aspects of information technology, including books: „Criminal Law and Computers”, C. H. Beck Publisher, Warszawa 2000, and „Crime in Cyberspace. Legal countermeasures in Poland and the Council of Europe Draft Convention”, TNOiK Publisher, Toruń 2001.

Prof. Arkadiusz Lach

An assistant professor in the Department of Criminal Procedure at the Faculty of Law and Administration NCU in Torun and a barrister.

He specializes in new technologies law as well as European criminal law. He is an author of numerous publications, including a monograph „Electronic evidence in a criminal proceedings”.

He is a member and, at the same time, a founder of an Association – the Institute of an IT Investigation (SIIS).

Dr Karol Dobrzeniecki

Being an assistant professor in the Department of the Theory of Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration NCU in Torun, he has been conducting the research on the relation between law and the Internet.

Dr Dobrzeniecki is an author of numerous scientific works on legal as well as philosophical aspects of electronic communication. The publications include a monograph ‚Law and Ethos in Cyberspace’ (2004) and „Lex informatica” (2008).

He is a lecturer of the postgraduate studies on the protection of secured data, the participant of the European legal education programme.

He is an arbiter of the Court of Conciliation for Internet Domains which functions in the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (PIIT). He has given numerous speeches at the conferences held in Poland as well as beyond our borders.

Dr Jerzy Kosiński

Deputy Commissioner and Doctor of Science, an assistant professor in the Department of Studies on Organized Crime and Terrorism in the Intsitute of Scientific Research on Crime and Terrorism at the Faculty of Interior Safety of the Police Academy in Szczytno.

He was enrolled on the list of District Court in Olsztyn as legal expert in computer crime and bank cards. He is a member of the Interpol Working Group on Cybercrime (subgroup Counter Forensics). He is as well a member of the Europol Expert Group on Cybercrime. In 2005-2006 he performed as an expert in Multidisciplinary Group on Organized Crime within the EU Council.

Dr Michał Polasik

An assistant professor at the Faculty of Economic Science and Management of NCU in Torun.

He is an author of numerous publications on electronic banking and retail payments. He has headed two research projects for Polish National Bank (NBP).

He is a laureate of Marian Kanton Competition for the best magisterska thesis (MA thesis equivalent) on the payment systems (2002). Also, in 2005 he was awarded an individual award of the NCU Rector for doctoral thesis.

He is a laureate of a ‚Highly Commended Award’ within the frame of ‚The Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2010’ awarded by the Emerald publishing house.

Currently, he is the coordinator of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education programme ‚The analysis of the development of the electronic retail payments in Poland and their determinants’.

Dr Monika Wałachowska

An assistant professor in the Insurance Scientific Unit of the Department of Civil Law and International Economic Exchange at the Faculty of Law and Administration NCU in Torun.

With civil law as a field of expertise, dr Wałachowska specializes in the comparative analysis of the civil liability and compensation, the protection of personal rights. She is also a successful lecturer in other branches of civil law: international private law, press law, intellectual property law, advertisement and media law.

She is an author of numerous publications including a monograph ‚The pecuniary compensation for moral injuries’. She graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration NCU in Torun. She was a participant of the postgraduate studies on copyright, publishing and press law at Jagiellonian University in Cracow as well as internships at the Faculty of Law in Utrecht and at the Oxford University.

Dr Konrad Zacharzewski

An assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Banking Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration NCU in Torun.

His fields of expertise are legal aspects of stock exchange,contracts on the provision of services and new forms of conducting legal transactions.

He is the head of postgraduate studies on:
– banking law and banking,
– capital market law.

Dr Zofia Zawadzka

an assistant professor in the Department of Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of the University in Bialystok, a barrister. She defended her PhD dissertation in March 2011. The title of her dissertation was The freedom of press and the privacy protection of public persons – the problem of conflict of rules. She was awarded a scholarship by the Faculty of Law of Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. She graduated from The 2007 International Business and Trade Summer Law Program in Cracow organized by The Catholic University of America in Washington and the Jagiellonian University as well as the Summer Course on German Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Varsovian University. She gives lectures and carries out courses on intellectual property law, copyright law and press law. She is an author and a co-author of publications on press law, copyright law and civil law. Her fields of expertise are intellectual property law, press law and personal rights protection.

Mirosław Maj

Since 2010 he has been the founder and the president of the Cybersecurity Foundation the aim of which is to coordinate the cooperation between European CERTs as a part of the initiative called Trusted Introducer and the project TERENA TF-CSIRT. He has also been the vicepresident and the cofounder of the ComCERT SA. For the past fifteen years he was related to NASK where he presided over the CERT Poland team. Additionally, he cooperates with Rządowe Centrum Bezpieczeństwa where he particularily focused on the subject of crisis infrastructure. He worked as a memeber of the Editorial Board of CIIP focus. 

What is more, he is an academic teacher at the Jagiellonian University, the Polish-Japan College of Copmuter Technologies and SGH in Warsaw. 

He is engaged into multiple initiatives as well as projects concerning cybesecurity, In 2012 he coordinated and coorganized Cyber-EXE POland 2012 which took place during the conference Freedom and Security. He was an active participant of creation of new CERTs both in Poland and beyond its borders, including organisation of  the training courses for employees of Polish and Georgian governmental CERT as well as Polish military CERT. He also coordinated the NATO’ project called Closer the aim of which was to create national CERTs in postsoviet countries such as Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Armenia. 

Being a member of subject-oriented working groups as well as the coauthor of multiple works on personal data security and CERTs’ cooperration, he has been cooperating with ENISA for many years. 

He is also an author of multiple training materials on IT security which have been presented both in Poland and abroad.
